Where communications links are intermittent or unreliable, M-Link’s automatic appending will guarantee that the story gets through. The protocols make efficient use of the available bandwidth, reducing both costs and transmission times.

Field Unit
Using notebooks with Firewire support, IP-Reporter H.264 AVC can directly connect to a wide range of video equipment and import video using the built in, simple-to-use acquisition tools. Professional non-linear editing packages, such as Avid News Cutter DV, can also be used in conjunction with the software. In addition to the latest Inmarsat BGAN services, M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 AVC operates over a wide range of other communications networks, VSAT, xDSL, Wi-Fi, GPRS, R-BGAN and general IP based networks.

Licensing
The M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 AVC package consists of a bundle of five or more software licenses. The association of these licenses with your specific receiver(s) assures that the story will come only to you.

M-Link Open Architecture
The M-Link open architecture incorporates the latest‘codec plug-in’ technology, which allows users to choose the most appropriate compression technique. This includes the latest in H.264 AVC industry standards, as well as Windows Media 9 (WM9™). M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 AVC uses software compression techniques to generate fully industry compliant H.264 AVC video, from 128 kbps upwards, providing a highly efficient video solution, improving quality and reducing transmission costs.

Video Transmission and Receiver Playout
M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 AVC Video Feeds can be delivered over IP to any M-Link Exchange Receiver, of which many are installed across news and media organisations worldwide. Should an M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 AVC user wish to file to an older generation M-Link receiver, that has not been upgraded to H.264 AVC, they can fall back to WM9™ compression. Playing out via SDI or analogue, the M-Link Exchange servers can effortlessly be integrated with the newsroom infrastructure and deal with the complexity of managing multiple mobiles in the field.

Compatibility and Support
As newsgathering can be very challenging for the reporter and the equipment in remote or hostile environments, IP-Reporter H.264 AVC is supplied with a second line support contract offering expert advice on all aspects of using the equipment.
